Favorite vinegar at a fair...
I have a cupboard full of various vinegars but this one has been my favorite for years. It's slightly floral sour/sweet balance makes vinegarettes foolproof. Whenever my cooking needs a tangy hit it's the one I use. Caviar Star offered a good price and when I had a question, customer service was thoughtful and intelligent. All together, a rare pleasure. I ordered some favorite (hard to find) vinegar a couole months ago, and they immediately confirmed my order with a tracking number even though they were not able to ship, as the goods were delayed in transit to them for several weeks. I contacted them and they were very responsive and refunded myoney since after a 2-week wait, they had yet to receive the goods from their supplier. I contacted them a month or so later and they confirmed that they, indeed, had the vinegar in stock, so I placed a new order and it was shipped and received in a few days. For the original order, U was concerned that I had been scammed because (a) the charge showed a different vendor name and (b) they charged before shipment; creating a shipping label is not proof of shipiment, but apparently passes the credit card merchant rules, but is a res flag to me. So, I was pleased that they are a legitimate business with fine customer service, just suffering some supply chain issues. As a former owner of a small business for 30 years, I appreciate how they treated me under such circumstances.

Unio Moscato Wine Vinegar is our family's favorite. It tastes much like the wine vinegar made by my late Italian immigrant father-in-law, Looked for it everywhere but couldn't find it until we found Unio Moscato.

I first learned about moscatel vinegar from a Florence Fabricant piece in the Food section of the NYTimes. I've been using it for at least 25 years, most especially in my homemade salad dressing/marinade. It is light, tastes less acidic, mixes well without overpowering other flavors. Unio is the best brand I've ever used and moscatel can be really hard to find. Caviar Star got it to me really quickly, very safely packaged, and at a really good price. All important since this is such an essential ingredient and I am not going out shopping a heck of a lot lot in these lockdown days.
