Our Story

Founded in Portland, Maine in the late 1980s by husband-and-wife divers Dana and Denise Leavitt, Great Atlantic began as a hands-on seafood operation—harvesting scallops and urchins and selling them on the Portland docks. That small venture quickly grew into a global exporter, especially to Japan, and evolved into Great Atlantic Trading Inc. as the Leavitts’ passion for caviar and fine roes took center stage.

For over three decades, we’ve been a trusted source for distributors, wholesalers, chefs, and home cooks seeking exceptional caviar and specialty ingredients—truffles, aged balsamics, and more—at true wholesale value. By buying directly from farms and fisheries and importing at scale, we keep Michelin-caliber quality within reach.

At Caviar Star, integrity guides everything we do. We source meticulously, handle expertly, and prioritize transparency and sustainability—whether you’re a chef pushing creative boundaries or a curious gourmand discovering something new.

Our Commitment to Caviar

Caviar is a luxury, but it shouldn’t be out of reach. Our high-volume facility and expertly trained team let us offer top-tier caviar at the best possible prices. Every lot—domestic and imported—is personally inspected and handled to exacting standards, in full compliance with government regulations and food-safety protocols.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

We meet today’s needs without compromising tomorrow’s. We partner with eco-focused farms and fisheries, encourage greener practices and packaging, and ship perishables with recycled cotton insulation or biodegradable, compostable plant-based foam, UPS Carbon Neutral.

Thank you for choosing Caviar Star—where quality meets passion, and every bite tells a story.
