Average but not excellent

First I want to say that every experience I have had with caviar*up until now has been flawless. I do not consider this to be a reflection of the business, but it is a reflection of this particular order experience.
In advance of Valentine’s Day and my wife’s birthday I ordered caviar and truffles to be delivered for the weekend. The caviar and all of the accompanying pants arrived as expected on Friday. The black truffles however did not arrive until the following Monday. Upon receipt, they were as expected in their appearance, but the flavor was lacking. There’s nothing wrong with them, and they were still enjoyable, but they did not have the pungent aromatic properties I expected based on my past experience with black winter truffles.

All this being said, it will not preclude me from ordering again, but I will be sure to plan for them to arrive further in advance of when I plan to use them. Truffles on the Tuesday after Valentine’s Day just doesn’t have the same impact as truffles served with mushroom risotto and lamb for the special day…
